Birth of Ernst Heinrich Heinkel (1888-1958) in Grunbach, Germany. Heinkel was the chief designer for the Albatros Aircraft Company in Berlin prior to World War I. After the war, he founded the Ernst Heinkel Flugzeugwerke in Warnemünde. He produced the He 70, the He 176, the He 178, the first turbojet, the He 111 and the He 162. Heinkel was tried for war crimes but released. In 1950 he founded a new company which produced bicycles and motorbikes.
